Privacy Policy

Effective Date: [To be set at launch]

Draft — Pending Legal Review

This policy explains what information UMFT collects today, how it is used, and what changes are planned as the platform grows. It is a draft prepared for Owner review and is not legally approved.

1. Overview

This policy describes how UMFT handles information for the features that exist today. UMFT is currently a preview-phase streaming discovery platform: you can create an account, verify your email, and browse curated previews. Where a feature is planned but not yet built, this policy says so explicitly.

2. Information We Currently Collect

Through the features implemented today, we collect:

  • Account details you provide: your email address and, where applicable, your name
  • Email verification codes generated when you confirm your account
  • Messages you send us through support or contact channels
  • Theme preference (dark or light), stored on your own device
  • Basic technical and usage data collected by the hosting platform (see Analytics below)

We do not currently collect payment details, billing addresses, phone numbers, or viewing history, because purchasing and playback have not launched.

3. How We Use Information

  • Create and authenticate your account
  • Send email verification codes and transactional messages
  • Respond to support and contact requests
  • Keep the service secure and troubleshoot issues
  • Understand aggregate site usage so we can improve UMFT

4. Accounts & Sign-In

Accounts are created with an email address and password. Passwords are handled by the platform's authentication service; UMFT cannot read your password. If you choose a third-party sign-in option (such as Google), that provider shares basic profile details (such as your name and email address) according to its own policies, and your sign-in is subject to that provider's terms.

5. Email Communications

Transactional email (such as account verification codes) is delivered through a third-party email delivery provider. Verification messages are sent from our no-reply address, and account or support messages are sent from our support address. We do not currently send marketing email.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

Today, cookies and local storage are used for:

  • Session authentication — keeping you signed in, managed by the hosting platform
  • Your theme preference, saved in your browser's local storage

We do not currently use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or marketing tags.

7. Analytics

The hosting platform collects standard, aggregate usage analytics for this site, such as pages viewed, basic device and browser types, and approximate region derived from IP address. UMFT does not currently run any custom tracking, advertising networks, or third-party analytics scripts. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.

8. Third-Party Video Players — Planned

Playback is not enabled yet. In a future phase, works may be presented through embedded third-party players (such as YouTube). When that happens, those providers may set their own cookies and collect viewing data under their own privacy policies. This policy will be updated to describe that behavior before it goes live.

9. Planned Future Functionality

Features under consideration for later phases include optional paid subscriptions, filmmaker submissions, viewer profiles, and playback. Each of these will involve additional data (for example billing details handled by a payment provider, or submitted film files) and will be added to this policy before or when the feature launches.

10. Service Providers

UMFT relies on third-party providers to operate, including the application hosting platform and an email delivery provider. These providers process information only as needed to deliver their services, under their own terms and policies.

11. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share information only with the service providers needed to run the site (hosting, authentication, email delivery), or when required for security or legal reasons.

12. Data Security & Retention

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information; however, no method of internet transmission or storage is completely secure. We keep account and verification data only as long as needed to operate your account, meet support needs, or satisfy record-keeping obligations.

13. Your Choices

You may review or update your account details, or request deletion of your account information, by contacting us. You can clear your stored theme preference any time by clearing your browser's local storage.

14. Children's Privacy

UMFT is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

15. Regulatory Compliance — Not Yet Verified

This draft has not been reviewed for compliance with GDPR, PIPEDA, CCPA, or any other privacy regulation, and UMFT makes no compliance representation at this stage. A formal review is required before this policy is finalized or published as authoritative.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as features launch. The effective date will be revised when changes are made.
